 South Kalimantan


South Kalimantan (Indonesian: Kalimantan Selatan) is a province of Indonesia. It is located in Kalimantan, the Indonesian territory of Borneo. The provincial capital is Banjarmasin. The area of South Kalimantan is 38,744.23 km2. 

Tourism Site

There are some interesting place to visit in South Kalimantan, such as Lok Sado, Goa Kelelawar, Sungai Cuka, Air Terjun Batu Kura (Bajuni), Pantai Takasiung, Pulau Kaget, Sungai Barito, Goa Hapu Air Terjun Haratai,Goa Beramban, Goa Batu Bini, Pantai Batakan, Museum Banjar Lambung Mangkurat. Traditional Dance
 
Tari Baksa Kembang is a dance to welcome important guests by giving garlands. Formerly, the dance is performed to entertain the royal family and welcome guests like kings or princess’.



Traditional House

Rumah Banjar is the traditional house if South Kalimantan. This house includes a house on stilts, have pointed roof and are made of thatch, as well as rectangular. This house is made of wood and resin. On the right side of the main room there is left an additional building which is out from the main building.



Traditional Weapon

Mandau is the traditional weapon of South Kalimantan. It is a kind of machete and long-shaped, made of materials selection taken from the mountain rocks containing iron. This weapon decoration in the form of hornbill feathers or human hair, placed in the upstream of Mandau and made of horn or wood.



Traditional Costume

Pakaian Adat Banjar is the traditional costume of South Kalimantan. Men wear long-sleeved vest decorated with special motifs and long pants similar color. At the waist to wear gloves to parts of the knee. Head man wearing a headband that the edges slightly rose. For women wearing basisit brackets complete with tapih. Called brackets basisit clothes because in the neck and hand strap equipped (straps penyisit). Clothing material can be made of silk. This shirt is combined with tapih. In the head, her hair in a bun and wearing a flower ornament rocking.
