Central Kalimantan



Hey everyone, today I'd like to tell you about another province in Indonesia. Here we go...



Central Kalimantan

 
Central Kalimantan (Indonesian: Kalimantan Tengah) is a province of Indonesia. It is one of five provinces in Kalimantan, the Indonesian part of Borneo. Its provincial capital is Palangkaraya. Central Kalimantan is the third largest Indonesian province by area with a size of 153,564.5 km2.

Tourism Site

Central Kalimantan is rich in natural reserves, such as in Bukit Raya and Monumental Kotawaringin Timur Forest group, Bukit Sapat Hawung in Barito Utara, and Merang in Palangkaraya. There is also a nature reserve land and sea in Kotawaringin Barat. Malau Besar Waterfall and Pauras in Barito Utara, Tangkiling in Palangkaraya. The beautiful and natural beach in Kotawaringin Barat and Ujung Pandaran in Kotawaringin Timur.

 Bukit Raya



Traditional Dance

Tari Tambun is a dance that tells the heroic. Tambun and Bungai to repel enemies that will deprive the people harvest. Male dancers in this dance wearing traditional clothing, shields, and weapon to show the spirit of heroic figures.



Traditional House

Rumah Betang is the traditional house in Central Kalimantan. Its large and shape are varies. The length is 150 meters and width is 30 meters. Generally, Rumah Betang built by form of a stage with a height of 3-5 meters from the ground. The bulding is high to avod it from flood in the rainy season.


Traditional Weapon

Mandau is the traditional weapon of Central Kalimantan. It is a kind of machete and long-shaped, made of materials selection taken from the mountain rocks containing iron. This weapon decoration in the form of hornbill feathers or human hair, placed in the upstream of Mandau and made of horn or wood.


Traditional Costume

Sinjang is the taridional costume of Central Kalimantan. Man is wearing a headdress decorated with feathers hornbills, vests and fabrics which closes the bottom of the knee. Jewelry worn in the form of bead necklaces and belts. Their women wear a vest, skirt fabric, headgear decorated with hornbill feathers, beads, belts, and some necklaces hand.
