North Maluku

North Maluku




North Maluku is one of the provinces in Indonesia . Provincial commonly abbreviated as " Malut " consists of several islands in the Maluku.Ibukota located in Sofifi , District of North Oba , since August 4, 2010 replaces largest city , Ternate which serves as a temporary capital for 11 years for infrastructure readiness.

1. Halmahera Island



Halmahera Island is the largest island in North Maluku province , covers approximately 17 780 square meters . Glance shaped like the island of Sulawesi, with four of the peninsula . Halmahera Island culture is very unique because the population is a mixture of the Portuguese , Gujarati , Arabic , Malaysia , and the Netherlands . In addition to having attractions such as sea and the volcano , Halmahera Island also has some traditional village very interesting to visit .

2. Kedaton Sultan Bacan



Originally this building was the residence of Shah Sultan Mukhsin . But eventually used as kedaton Sultan Bacan because kedaton  Sultan Sadik Shah destroyed by Duni War 2. Finally, the building officially became the center of government Sultanate Bacan . Until now, the original building is still maintained , except for the roof were renovated in 2003 .

3. Banda Island



Since the first century AD , the Banda islands have become the sole producer of spices like nutmeg and mace . Banda islands visited by many ships from China , India , and Arabic . This spice is very valuable and sold at a huge advantage in the world market at that time.
Banda society is based on the natural resources spices to change after the Netherlands monopolize.


Traditional House

North Maluku has two traditional houses name Hibualamo House and Sasando House. 

1. Sasadu House 



Sasadu house is a traditional house inherited by Sahu ethnic ancestry in West Halmahera Island, North Maluku. Sasadu derived from the Sasa - Sela - Lamo or large and Tatadus - Tadus or shelter, so Sasadu has a great sense of refuge in the house. Sasadu traditional house has a simple form or in the form of a simple house on stilts are built using wood as a pillar or pillars derived from sago tree trunks, woven sago leaves as roofing traditional house and has two stair footing located at the left and right.In the traditional house there are two ends Sasadu carved wooden roof and has a shape bow and stern of the boat were found on both ends of the roof. The ridge symbolizes sailing boat because the tribe is a tribe Sahu who like to sail across the ocean. In addition to the ridge of the roof hung two spheres were wrapped fibers. It describes two spheres symbol supernatural power that is the power to destroy and the power to protect.

2. Hibualamo House



Hibualamo house is a custom home that came from North Halmahera, North Maluku. According to the local native language means Hibua house while Lamo means of the so Hibualamo have a great sense of home. Hibualamo custom house was inaugurated in April 2007, but the actual custom house Hibualamo already established since 600 years ago. The loss of the existence of this custom home as a result of colonization, then the establishment of village hall as a place of troubleshooting and goverment costum. Rumah Hibualamo re-established as a symbol of post-conflict peace SARA in 1999 - 2001. Therefore, the construction also experienced growth compared to its original shape in the form of home stage. The original form of this custom home is located on the island of Kakara, North Halmahera and so-called traditional house Hibualamo Tobelo. Hibualamo built custom home with many symbols that have special meaning associated with unity. Custom home construction resembles a boat which reflects the maritime life Tobelo and Galela tribes in coast. The building has the shape of eight and has four entrances that shows symbol the four cardinal directions and everyone who resides in the custom house sitting opposite each other which shows equality Hibualamo custom home there are 4 main colors each - each have a meaning. The red color reflects the persistence of community struggles Canga, yellow reflects intelligence, splendor and wealth. Black color white color reflects the solidarity and reflect purity.

Traditional Dances 



Lenso dance is the dance of the young people of Minahasa ( sulut ) and elapsed areas in Maluku , dance is usually brought in a crowd when there is a party . Good Wedding , cloves Harvest , New Year and other activities .This dance also at the same event mate search for those still flunky ... want to try? Lenso means handkerchief . Lenso term , is only used by people ( the people in the area of North Sulawesi , Central Sulawesi and other regions mostly in Eastern Indonesia )

Manteren Lamo

Traditional clothes Lamo Manteren
Manteren clothes Lamo ( Sultan ) is a traditional custom clothing North Maluku consisting of black trousers with red bus extends from top to bottom , shaped coat dress covered with large buttons made of silver amounted to nine .

Traditional Weapon

North Maluku have the same traditional weapon with Province of Maluku.




Parang Salawiku
Famous traditional weapons in Maluku is salawiku machete . About 90-100 cm long machete . While salawiku is a shield that decorated motifs that symbolize courage .

Musical Instrument


Fu 

The initial idea of making music as a traditional musical instrument Fu began to be raised through the idea of a deputy governor of the First Level Maluku province . Lt. Col. G. Latumahina that his full name . A profession that has not only a military man , he is also a good civil service who have talent as a humanist in this area. As a native son , he is so interested in the history of this area . From various readings written in Dutch about this area , he found a historical story about the history of the island spooky or lasim known as Nusa Ina .
